Santa will also be paying a visit between 1-3pm and will pose for photos. For the traditional Irish breakfast reservations are required and cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. The Swedish American Museum will be hosting the Annual Julmarknad Christmas Bazaar. Traditional and modern Scandinavian handicrafts and food items will be for sale in the museums first floor gallery. In the Children’s Museum there will be games, crafts, and a visit from Santa. Entertainment will be provided with kaffestuga( a swedish cafe), a Lucia procession and folk dancing. The Polish Museum of America will be hosting a Wigilia which is a Traditional Polish Christmas Eve Supper. The evening will include the Wigilia traditions, sharing of the Polish Christmas wafer oplatek, delicious traditional Wigilia meatless meal, carols (koledy) and a visit from St. Nicholas (Swiety Mikolaj). Reservations are required. While visiting visit the gift shop for crafts, gifts and traditional Polish greeting cards.

Christmas Around the World

The Museum of Science and Industry will once again displaying over 50 trees decorated by volunteers from Chicago’s ethnic communities which represent the different cultures and traditions. The museum will display a 45 foot tree on the center stage featuring 1000 ornaments and 30,000 lights. Musical and dance performances are also scheduled for the duration of the exhibit. This event is not to missed and dates back to 1942.
