The Holidays in Woodstock

Woodstock’s Historic Square comes alive during the holiday’s, with beautifully dressed windows, lights and festivities. You will be carried back in time with carriage rides, carolers and old fashioned hospitality. You can come for the day or stay for the weekend. Woodstock boasts a hotel on the Square and several bed & breakfasts as well as many restaurants and shops. You can catch a live performance at the Woodstock Opera House or a movie at the Woodstock Theater. See our posts under Woodstock for more info.

A Victorian Christmas on  Woodstock Square:

Begins Friday, November 29th  with the Lighting of the Square when Woodstock literally comes alive, bathed in a wonderland of lights.  The official lighting is at 7:00pm, but there are many other wonderful holiday activities planned throughout the day. Enjoy free carriage rides, carolers, street musicians, holiday sweets, plus take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa will be on the Square from 7:30 to 9:00pm in his house for visits.

November 29th-December 21st – Free Carriage Rides around the Square

 Take a spin around the Square in a horse drawn carriage, these rides are Free and will be available Fridays & Saturdays from 4:00pm-8:00pm through December 21st.

Saturday, November 30th The festivities continue with Madrigal Singers, from 12:00-1:30 pm. These festive singers will stroll through the Square singing traditional carols and songs of holiday cheer.

Kids Night Out

Sunday, December 1st, 10:00am to 3:00pm - Kids Day on Woodstock Square; a whole day of family friendly activities, don’t miss the annual Christmas Parade Around the Square. This holiday parade welcomes Santa and the holiday season to Woodstock. Families are welcome to follow along behind the parade to the Old South Street Fire Station, where cookies and milk will be served with Santa.

10:00amRudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Free Movie – at Classic Cinemas, 209 Main Street.
12:00-3:00pm – Crafts and Activities at Jaci’s Cookies, Lorraine’s Memories and Mixin Mingle all located in Woodstock Square, while supplies last.
2:00 to 3:00pm, don’t miss the annual Christmas Parade Around the Square.
November 29th through Christmas - Christmas Tree Walk, a Woodstock tradition for over 30 years. The walk features a collection of uniquely decorated trees placed throughout the Opera House. This free event is hosted by the Woodstock Opera House, and continues throughout the holiday season.
Thursday, December 5th, from 5-9pm grab your friends and head back to the Square for Ladies Night Out. Enjoy a night on the town, packed with special events and entertainment. Check in at the Opera House stating at 5pm, with an opportunity to win a prize (while supplies Last)

Saturday, December 14th -  Kids Weekend’- 11am-2pm grab the kids and Jingle on down to Seasons by Peg for an afternoon of fun for your children. For your picture with Frosty the Snowman  and Kids’ activity.

The Woodstock Opera House also gets in the Holiday Spirit with special performances of “A Christmas Carol”, “The Nutcracker Ballet”, “Ed Hall’s Christmas Guitar Night and other special holiday events.
