- Leave your keys at home; cut loose and let Metra do the driving. Hop on the train and head to Woodstock, where you can start your Woodstock to Cary Pub Crawl. This bar hop features four unique bars that are right across the street from their Metra stations.
In Woodstock – Ortman’s Red Iron Tavern, a gathering place for friends to catch up, inside or out on their patio. They are known for their apple pie shots and fun neighborhood feel.
Next, on to Crystal Lake where you will find the next two bars, one on each side of the train station;
Dukes Alehouse & Kitchen, features a beer garden, live entertainment, and is known for their locally sustainable menu and incredible beer selection with over 140 craft brews.
Cross the tracks and head to Georgio’s Pizzeria & Pub.
People come from all over for their award winning Chicago style pizza, and their bar always packs a crowd.
Then to Cary – The Tracks Bar & Grill, an upbeat neighborhood bar that is known for their specialty burgers and Friday fish fry. They also have a outdoor patio tucked behind the bar perfect for summer fun.
Four bars so little time, just don’t have to much fun, it is easy to miss your train.
The Inside Track – if you are making multiple stops on a weekday make sure to tell your conductors before they punch your ticket, they will note it on your ticket and not make the final punch. On the weekend this is unnecessary if you are riding on a weekend pass, as it is good for as much Saturday and Sunday travel as you can fit in.
Let the bartender know that you are on a bar crawl and he may help you out with your timing.
