If you enjoy live theater, you may want to give the gift theatre company in Jefferson Park a try. This is a small, intimate 50 seat theater (only 1200 square feet) that offers a professional stage, sound system and performance for a reasonable price, only about $22 – $32 dollars a ticket. On most Wednesdays and occasional Fridays, “Natural Gas” the Gift’s improv company offers 50 minutes of improv for only $5.00. This is a no frills theater and expect to share a single restroom. The gift theater is a great alternative to traveling into the loop for an original live production.
Before the show plan on eating at Gale Street Inn. Located
directly across from the Jefferson Park Metra Station, The Gale Street Inn has been a landmark in the Jefferson Park neighborhood and is known for their baby back ribs. Since most of the shows at the The Gift Theater start at 7:30 pm you may want to try something off the early bird menu which is available Monday through Friday, and enjoy a leisurely meal before the show.
To get to the Gale Street Inn from the Jefferson Park Metra Station head southeast and turn right on North Milwaukee Avenue. This should take approximately 5 minutes. To get to the theater from the Restaurant will take you less than 5 minutes, just head southeast on North Milwaukee Avenue.
