Norwood Park Metra Station – Woolly Lamb
This Woolly Lamb Yarn Studio has a great selection of yarns, patterns and accessories for knitting and crocheting. In addition they carry specialty buttons from Germany. There are classes for adults and children. The Woolly Lamb also hosts a number of events and holds an “all You Can Knit Nite” on Thursdays.

Des Plaines Metra Station – Mosaic Yarn Studio, Ltd.
The Mosaic Yarn Studio carries yarn, patterns and accessories for knitting and crocheting. The studio offers events and classes including private instruction.
To get to Mosaic Yarn Studio from the Des Plaines Metra Station head southeast on Miner St, right on Pearson St., then left on Ellinwood Ave. Approximately a 4 minute walk from the station.

Arlington Heights Metra Station – Fuzzy Wuzzy Yarns
Fuzzy Wuzzy Yarns is one of the premier yarn shops in the Northwest suburbs. This beautiful shop carries a number of specialty items. Their class list is extensive and includes beginner and advanced classes for crocheting and knitting as well as unique offerings such as felted slippers and purses. Fuzzy Wuzzy Yarns is also a drop off site for chemo caps for Halos of Hope .

Barrington Metra Station – Gene Ann’s Yarn
Gene Ann’s Yarn carries yarn, patterns and accessories for knitting and crocheting. In addition they carry a number of specialty organic cotton, corn wool, silk and bamboo yarns. There are a number of classes available and if one of their classes doesn’t fit into your schedule they will do their best to create a class for you.

Downtown Crystal Lake Metra Station – Sunflower Samplings
Sunflower Samplings is a combination gift and yarn store. Tucked away in the back of the store is a great assortment of yarns, patterns and accessories.
To get to Sunflower Samplings from the downtown Crystal Lake Metra station, head southeast on East Woodstock St. and turn left on North Williams St. Approximately a 2 minute walk from the station.

If you are making a stop-over on a week day, inform the conductor when you hand them your ticket and they will make a notation to that effect when they punch your ticket. On the weekend this is unnecessary if you are riding on a weekend pass, as it is good for as much Saturday and Sunday travel as you can fit in.
