This two-town bar hopping excursion guarantees a memorable evening for the bride to be or any group of friends. Start the evening in Barrington, at McGonigal’s Pub. The cozy pub features two levels and there is often live music on the week-ends. The bride and her entourage may want to order dinner or share some starters. McGonigal’s is conveniently located two blocks from the Metra Station. Head northwest on Park Avenue and turn left on South Cook. The entrance will be on the left.
Get back on board for the next stop in Palatine. The Lamplighter Inn Tavern & Grille is located less than five minutes from the Palatine Metra station. The bar has daily drink and food specials which can be enjoyed in the beer garden. Frequently on Saturdays there is live music. The bar is open until 3:00 am and food is served late. The crowd is friendly and unpretentious. To get to the Lamplighter from the train station, head east on West Wood Street, then right on North Bothwell Street.
When the bride is ready, proceed to the final destination Durty Nellies. This is the largest venue in the excursion. The beer garden is open year round. Durty Nellies is on your right just over the tracks. The bride can party until 4:00am on Saturdays, while enjoying live music. The Metra station is right across the street. Head back north on North Bothwell, then left on Wood Street, and left on North Smith Street.
Please note for all multiple stop outings
If you are making a stop-over on a week day, inform the conductor when you hand them your ticket and they will make a notation to that effect when they punch your ticket. On the weekend this is unnecessary if you are riding on a weekend pass, as it is good for as much Saturday and Sunday travel as you can fit in.
