This excursion will take you on a shopping expedition of the antiques shops in downtown Crystal Lake. Get off at the downtown Crystal Lake stop and head south down Williams Street for about two blocks to Crystal Lake Avenue. Turn right and go about half way down the block on the south side of the street and you will see the Crystal Lake Health Food Store. Carriage House Antiques is set back between the health food store and the Crystal Lake Park District Office. This store has the largest selection of antiques in downtown Crystal Lake. You will have fun poking around this store. When you are done shopping, head back to Williams Street and go north.
One block up on the corner of Williams Street and Brinks Street you will see Dalzell & Company. This store specializes in fine and antique jewelry. You never know what estate pieces you may find. In addition to the antique jewelry they have rare coins, watches, and other miscellaneous items.
Cross Williams Street and head west on Brinks Street. On the north side of the street you will see Woodland Art Gallery and Frame. In addition to being a quality framer and art gallery they have a number of antique pieces including some furniture, prints, and decorative items.
Head back to Williams Street and you may want to grab a bite to eat before getting back on the train. The Williams Street Public House, only a half a block from the Metra Station. They are open every day, lunch through dinner, or you may just want just stop in for a cocktail and snack. After you have eaten go a half block north back to the station.
