Metro-Bowl will be the first stop on this excursion. Metro is a great old bowling alley in heart of downtown Crystal Lake. This alley has been well maintained.
This is a great place for the family or a group of friends. Metro-Bowl is on Brinks Street a little over two blocks from the downtown Crystal Lake train station. From the train station head east down Williams Street two blocks, then turn left on Brinks Street. Half way down the block on the south side of the street you will see the bowling alley. Call ahead and ask about bowling and bee specials.
After you are done bowling, stop in The Cottage for a beer and a burger. The Cottage is a cozy bar that also offers outside seating. People rave about their 1/2 pound cheeseburger which is cooked on a grill and offered with a choice of sides. Not in the mood for a burger? Order their pizza, which has an equally good reputation. The Cottage is west of Metro Bowl. Turn left out of the bowling alley(on Brink Street)and take a left on North Williams Street, going down about one block. Once you hit Crystal Lake Avenue, turn right, and The Cottage will be up the block on the right.
